Default Re: Forums, handicappers and wagerlines?

Thanks everyone, many great sites youve posted, especially TheRX.com forum.

I have another question for some of you:
Do many of you just find a handicapper and play on the games they recommend and make decent money on this? I mainly play poker, but as i have some troubles moving up and have a waaaaay to big a bankroll for my limit anyways, i do some casino whoring, but have played the easiest of them, and wont take the risk of the big swings that come with sticky bonuses.

Therefore i decided to try to put up some sportsbetting. But since i know next to nothing about most sports, i think its best to use a handicapper. I know a few people from where i live, but they only play on norwegian fotball and bicycle races. So i were hoping to hear about some handicappers you recommend (saw a couple of good ones at TheRX.com forums), but please PM, as i guess its not allowed to post it here? Id be interested to pay for some good handicappers.

So is it really this "easy"? It seems like really easy money if the records some of them post is really that good. Many of the guys ive seen have a income of almost 10.000$, and it wont take me that long to logon and bet on a few games.

Please tell me if its as easy as i think it is, which relly seem to good to be true...

no its not that easy. You may follow someone who is very good, they may go cold and you jump off, then they get hot and you miss out. If you are going to follow someone, you have to follow them. You should really learn to cap yourself, pay attention to games in your area. I basically just bet on IU and Cincinnati Bengal games.

Like Matt said, it is best to do your own work and try to come up with one area that you want to specialize in. If handicapping college football, pick a couple of obscure conferences and concentrate on those. These are the conferences that don't get a lot of attention from the public, and thus, not as much attention in setting the line from the oddsmaker. Do the same for college basketball, as there are even more obscure teams to concentrate on.

I would very strongly caution against paying for picks. Even once you're lucky enough to find a tout you can trust to be honest with you, he has to be good on top of that. I honestly do think Phil Steele is the most honest guy out there and he treats his customers very well. Unfortunately, he sucks. He had a good run, but he's been terrible in recent years, and given that, I can't follow him.

You can also trust the people at SharpSportsBetting. Their records are posted for all to see, as well as every pick they make in a spreadsheet. This is certainly one service where I can say confidently that if you play for enough per game, paying for them would be worth it.

But in the end, concentrate on handicapping this stuff yourself. In big games where the oddsmaker and public have hammered out a solid line, learn to concentrate on emotional and psychological factors that you think haven't been focused upon in hammering out that line. Learn to set your own lines and bet on those games with which you are in the most disagreement.

Finally, sports betting is at least 50% finding the best line out there through line shopping. If you're not line shopping, it will be extremely difficult to win.

Default Eagles at 6-1?

I'm not a big football fan myself, but my best friend happens to be a die hard Eagles fan. He's placing some serious cash on the Eagles at 6-1 to win the Super Bowl in a future, and says I should do the same. If I place a couple grand on it is it a decent wager? Is this the Eagles year? I figure if I put 5K on them at 6-1 and they happen to make it to the super bowl I can at least make a back up wager against them if I want....

If you plan on hedging right off the bat, then you are actually getting worse than 6:1 on the Eagles. It is rarely right to hedge for the sake of hedging (which is what you are doing here). Plus, most likely whoever the Eagles play in the Superbowl (if they get that far), they will be dogs, which will mean you will have to lay money on the other side; drastically decreasing your odds.

I would say 10 books at least. If you go to www.sportsbookreview.com and use an of the B or higher rated books you should be fine. And if you are a small better, then some of the C+ will be okay as well.

p.s. You can PM for a list of books that I use as well.

Right. And the are listed high on SBR. Also, the only problem with Pinny is if you are not a big bettor. As, they harge on withdrawals less than $500.
