Re: Worst Steven Spielberg Film?

It's just hard for some people to get over the tacked-on ending with the aliens. [/ QUOTE ] Should I start laughing at you as well? There were no aliens in A.I. |

Regardless, I voted for WOTW. I didn't mind AI, even with the aliens. |

Who ever voted for Jaws should kill themself. [/ QUOTE ] FWIW, and maybe I'm retarded, but I think A.I. is a better movie than Jaws. Jaws hasnt stood up to the test of time that well (I wouldnt think of watching it anymore). Whereas AI had a very interesting feel to it, sort of eerie in a way that only Kubrik could do. IOW, the bear wasn't really cute or cuddly, that was just how it looked. But it was the human qualities of all of the AI with that slight "disconnect" that made it interesting. I voted the Terminal because I could hardly get through it. |

They are not aliens. They are mechas (robots) just like David (Haley Joel Osment's chracter) except they are centuries more advanced. In the film, Gigolo Joe (I think) comments that mechas will eventually replace humans as the dominant species on the Earth. At the end of the film, we see that. When the SuperMechas find David, it's like they're finding a piece of their ancient history. They're finding one of the first of their kind. It's a much different ending when you realize who finds David. |

Re: Worst Steven Spielberg Film?
Ah. I see. Thanks. The ending doesn't seem quite so tacked on when you know the real story.

Re: Worst Steven Spielberg Film?
I got the ending, but i still didn't like AI, mostly because it was so messed up, it was like three very different movies tacked together.
But i don't think it belongs on the list because its not really a Spielberg movie, its a Kubrik movie that Spielberg picked up after he died. I'd like to think that if it Speilberg had died before filming Jaws and Kubrik picked it up that it would have sucked ass too. |
