How streaky is 6 max?

I've been playing 6 max for about 3000 hands and am astounded with the swings, the number of bad beats and the number of bad players...is this standard?

I am really new at the short handed tables and don't know so if you don't have an actual answer please just disregard (aka pokerdocmd)

well it depends on what limit youre playing of course, but the answer is definitely yes. the games are very swingy.

i've been at 5/10 and have noticed 50 bb swings every 300 hands...I'm really not used to it and wanted to see if others hand the same experience

my first couple weeks in that game i had several 100BB downswings yet still managed a healthy BB/100 during this period.

It's very swingy.

I haven't seen any statistics about why since the difference between shorthand standard deviation and full ring standard deviation are minimal.

In 60K hands I've had a 400 BB downswing and a 200 BB downswing. I think this is very extreme edge though. 3% kinda extreme.

The shorter the game, the wilder the swings. Six-handed seems tumultuous if you are accustomed to ten-handed, but is sane compared to heads up.

The 6-max games are very swingy. I have had numerous -100bb downswings and currently in a -200bb swing. If you can manage these type of swings, then I think you can manage poker.

I lost 50 bets in 100 hands once. IMO +/-100BB swings are commonplace. +/-50BB swings are standard.
