Default Was I right by just calling this down?

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $0.25.
Hero calls, 5 folds, CO (poster) checks, Button calls, 1 fold, BB checks.

Flop: (4.40 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, Button folds, BB calls.

Turn: (3.70 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, CO bets, BB calls, Hero calls.

River: (6.70 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, CO bets, BB folds, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.70 BB
Should I bet the turn here even after the flush/straight card hits?
I assume if I bet the turn, I should also bet the river?
Or was I correct by simply calling down with my small set?

Yes, bet the turn, absolutely. You don't need to be so fearful until your opponents show you good reason to be.
Bet the river too.

Bet the turn for value. If you're behind a flush, you have a huge number of outs. Check/call the river if raised. Else, bet out on the river unless a 4th [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] comes.

what exactly does c/r accomplish? letting your opponent holding a flush or straight 3-bet you? and take more money from you when you lead the river and he reraises?

others have already said what i would suggest for this hand: bet the turn. called, bet the river unless 4th[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] falls.

I would bet the turn. If raised, you may be able to release on the river if you don't fill up.
