Default 99 in SB, 25-50 5 max.

Ridiculously aggressive game, pretty tough to get anyone to fold anything so a lot of suckouts are happening. Preflop I'd usually 3 bet this but I wanted to have a look at the flop first, and with everyone in already I didn't want to give them more reason to chase.

I'd planned on checkraising the flop but it didn't work.

Seems perfect to me assuming your read that the game is "ridiculously aggressive" is correct. It's a shame the flop check raise missed.

I don't know how you were thinking you could play it differently other than maybe trying a check raise on the turn, but that's ify.

As for the preflop call, 99 is good against 2 or less opponents, or 4 or more, but 3 is a nightmare. I don't think a value raise here is worth it at all.

my comment is that the small blind sucks

i think you played it well - with all the money in the pot overcards will call the flop for 1 bet so 2 bets is far better if possible

Thanks for the replies. The small blind played this in a unique way, let's just say. I'm a big fan of the fact that people were calling me down with ace high, even after a turn 3-bet. Guess I had them guessing...

I'm losing sight of what hands to post here lol. Like what's interesting and what's not. I mean that 99 hand was interesting, but I don't know. Just like a young man coming in for a quickie. I feel so, unsatisfied.

Next time I'll post a big hand that I lost and played poorly. That will be interesting.

Thanks for the feedback, and for not calling me a hyper-aggro.

Regards,
all_aces

99 is good in a lot of scenarios. Its at its worst four handed and five handed IMO. In good shape 3 and less and six and more.

OK. Let me get this straight. You think:

99 vs. 2 opponents: good
99 vs. 4 opponents: good
99 vs. 3 opponents: nightmare

The difference is not even close to as big as you make it out to be.

Thank you to somebody with more credibility than me for pointing this out. I can absolutely understand the intuition behind the argument, but the difference is negligible, EV wise. I would find it very pleasing to find 99 in my big blind against any number of opponents.

I guess I used a very poor choice of words.

Still, I don't think there's enough value to raise it out of position on this hand.
