What\'s the Game of the Future?
When Super System came out, the big games were 7CS, NLHM, and Lowball. Now, the big games are OH/L and NLHM. What do you think will become the big game in five years? Ten?

Re: What\'s the Game of the Future?
Omaha is not a big game.
Holdem, all forms, #1. The others will come and go, maybe triple draw will join the mix as an 'action' game. |

Crazy Pineapple! [/ QUOTE ] For certain. I've been trying to get a game of $2/4 CP going at FW for a while now. If it went once the game would stay full for sure |

[/ QUOTE ] NLHM may be the biggest game for tournament play, but limit Holdem is by far the bigger cash game and is the dominant game at the low to mid levels, whereas at the highest levels Stud is probably still the single biggest game. As for the future, I predict Stud will remain the biggest game at 200/400 and above (there are reasons inherent in the game itself for this, too complicated to go into here) and limit poker (rather than pot limit or no limit) will continue to dominate the cash games (Again, there are structural reasons why). Holdem may lose a little ground to Omaha hi/lo but will still remain dominant. |

I think Omaha hi/low eight or better, just cause of how action packed it is.

Re: What\'s the Game of the Future?
You're talking about the old way of doing things. This is a thread about the future. If you play online then you would see that NL and O8 games are soaring in popularity. Yes right now (the present) limit has a strangle hold on the market but as poker progresses (the future) I think you'll see O8 become the game of choice for two reasons.
(1) The extra action makes it more appealing to newbies who feel that they play good with their 6789. More luck etc.... (2) Since the BB/HR is double what it is for hold em. Seasoned players will flock to it (like they are now) for it's "juicy factor"* *Juicy factor is a registered trademark of Royaltrux Inc. |
