Default A Play I Make a Lot

First level of bodog $7.50 tournament, and all stacks are about 1k. Blinds 5/10. I'm on BB with 83o. Two EP limpers, and then CO raises to t30. Button calls, SB calls, I call.

Leak?

I think so, i made a big ole post about that kind of stuff a month or so ago.

You need like 30:1 w/ implied odds to make that right.

I usually need at least something to make this call. Even something like 23o. At least there I can make a hand I can bust them with. If the flop comes A83 you're still not feeling that good about your hand.

I still toss junk here... I feel like you'll lose more in the long run with this play then you will make.

Yes, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad if you a)were HU, b)had a read or c)it was something like 52s instead.

edit: If the flop came A83 I'd be feeling damn good.

I know; I liked that post a lot, but I have really hard time guess what my rough implied odds are here. In these tournies, it's incredibly easy to get your stack in when you flop trips here, and I've got two limp/callers, a small pfr, and a cold caller.

Obviously, if I have 8Ts, or even 35s, this is a clear call.

30:1 is pretty tough to get.. especially w/ only 1000 starting chips, you'd pretty much have to get paid off every time for your whole stack, and ndever get sucked out on.

granted you can win pots w/o hitting, or by only getting 1 pair, but it's not very likely considering the multiple opponents.

i like it better if you are closing or nearly closing the action and if it's a minraise.

oh, and something like 23s is better, too. or like 35o.

yea.. with 8,3 what are you hoping to catch? To continue you need 2 8's or 2 3's on flop.. I wouldn't even feel that comfortable on an 8-high flop.. Exit had a good post about this while back, not sure if it's in archive or not.
