Low Pockets out of position vs. pre-flop raiser...
I felt that the turn bet on the two was a little strange...thought he was trying to take the pot away from me, unless he had checked a big ace on the flop (or big pair, fearing an ace).

Re: Low Pockets out of position vs. pre-flop raiser...
Check fold the turn. Even if you are ahead, there are at least 6 cards that will help him. If you are behind, you are only going to lose more bets. The pot is small.

Without a good read on villain, I check/fold every street.

Why else would he check the flop and call a turn raise on a blank unless he totally missed the flop?

Why else would he check the flop and call a turn raise on a blank unless he totally missed the flop? [/ QUOTE ] Because he's playing 99-KK like a little girl. |

Or he's playing KTs like a loose calling station... [/ QUOTE ] If you are basing the quality of your play on the fact that he did indeed have KT, then you are making a fundamental error. Results have a way of clouding our thinking so that we assume that we should always do the same thing in that situation. There are many more times when he will have something that beats you and you will lose bets. The posters here are giving you advice based on theory, not on the fact that he MIGHT be calling down with K high UI. I think you made 2 fundamental mistakes in this hand. Smaller of the 2: calling pf Bigger of the 2 : doing anything other then check folding Ya you won, but continue to play like this, and you will hemmorage a lot of chips. |

Re: Low Pockets out of position vs. pre-flop raiser...
To any flop action, I'm folding. But the way he played that hand indicated, to me at least, that he missed it. I didn't have a read on him, but most raisers who hit a flop will bet at it.
