Sometimes when they are just calling you down you can almost tell you have the best hand. Like this hand for instance. I would probably bet closer to the size of the pot on the river and expect to get get called by KQ/KJ

Strangely enough I got called down by KK... Weird.

The reason why I posted this was because I know you're not supposed to build a big pot w/ one pair hands, but I didn't know what else to do in this particular situation.

Usually you're right but in this specific case if I bet the turn I'm betting the river too, you'll ocasionally see something like this (an overpair or two pair) but checking is leaving money on the table.
