This ones a little different since villain is a decent player. Doesn't play trash and plays pretty well postflop.

Hand 1:
Don't raise the river.

Seriously? You have top two pair. This opponent could have made any two pair combo. If he had a set, this is sure a weird way to play it. If he had a set, make a note of it.

If he has the straight, so be it, I'm raising this river. If he 3-bets it, call it down.

Raising here would be a statistically sound play when you take into account the amount of money in the pot and the way that the hand was played. It is unlikely that he would have the straight in this situation anyway, considering that UTG+2 was out of position all though the hand, and probably would not have played 10 9. The way I see it though is that the best ammunition in this kind of situation is knowing your opponents.

Hand 1 I cap this everytime. Nobody plays a set that way, just too likely he has a worse two pair. A straight is possible, but I think you win this far more than he has a straight.

Hand 2 is fine. You win the maximum amount of money here this way, but also lose an extra bet if he actually has a full house or trips, unless you have balls of steel and can fold to a river 3-bet.

I'd cap hand 1 based on your description. I may just call if the cap wasn't 4-bets.

Hand 2 looks good.

One thing I just thought of, but is preflop raising Hand 1 worth it? I'm definitely playing it, but after 400 hands with it I'm making something like .1BB/hand, and I'm not driving out anybody unless it's maybe the blinds.

I dig the limp there. But its close.

This could start a debate.
