Villain has 145, Hero covers...

My brother was playing some $200 NL on Bodog and he wanted some feedback on this and asked me to post it for him. Spewing, or a good bluff?

My brother is dealt AQo (suits unimportant) in MP2. 2 folds, 2 limps, and he makes it $10 to go. Folded around... first limper folds, second limper calls. My brother's only read on this player is that he'll fight for pots where people haven't flopped much.

Flop comes 8-6-4 rainbow. ($26)
Villain checks, my brother bets $18, Villain checkraises to $40. My brother makes it $100 even...

In my extensive 1/2 NL experience, players that do this rarely have less than a strong draw or some kind of weak pair. I'm not saying he's got 66 or anything; probably more along the lines of 77,55,33,99... etc.

Usually with air they c/c flop and donk turn.

I dont like it without a VERY solid read (dont like it very much with one either).

I also prefer a push instead of the raise to 100, because now if foe pushes Hero will get some tremendeus odds, and "must" call with 2 overs even if its a big risk he is drawing dead.

With effective stacks of 250 and a third raise to 120 or so and a better read the play would had been totally fine IMO.

I don't like it at all. Villian might just push here with a 6 and what is "your brother" to do but call? But if "your brother" feels he has the correct read and can get the AK Police Seargent Villain to lay it down, then "your brother" has nothing to be ashamed of. Most of the time, however, I think "your brother" is just spewing his chips out of frustration.

I didn't like my brothers play very much at all when he told me about it, which is why I wanted to emphasize that it was him making the play. Maybe I overdid it. Anyways, Villain called with 43s and I heard a loud "[censored]" from my room. Maybe next time [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img].
