Default Decent Charities

I am interested in giving my money to a charity that helps young people in third world countries. My specific interests are that I am only sponsoring one person at a time and that I get updates on how they are doing and how my money is helping. Does anyone know any charity like this that I could go to? If I come up with some good ones through my own research, I'll post them here, in case someone else is interested.

Edit: It's important that the charities don't have a religious slant as well.

The Christian Children's Fund seems almost exactly what you want.

Children, Incorporated is the charity Barry Greenstein gives most of his tournament winnings to.

Why would you want to do that? What a bad idea.

Charity Navigator

The "peer analysis" section should help you find the kind of places you're looking for.
