I just copied that from their website. Interesting that for these kind of jobs "Experience of playing poker would be an advantage but is not essential."

Player Insight Consultant
Role:
To monitor the marketing and gaming activities of our competitors, allowing us to maximise player lifetime value.

Responsibilities:
Take responsibility for the collation and dissemination of crucial competitor intelligence throughout the marketing department
Play on all key competitor sites on a daily basis in order to gather information on competitor activity
Develop a data system to monitor the ongoing activities of our competitors
To produce regular reports for marketing colleagues
Design, administer and review regular online player surveys
Keep a close watch on the competitive landscape
Required experience:
Preferably in industries dealing with a large number of retail customers (e.g. large Internet, credit card, retail banking, airline, retail businesses)
A strong market research focus, as well as excellent numerical and analytical skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Must be outgoing and confident and capable of working in a multi-cultural environment
Experience of playing poker would be an advantage
Remuneration:
According to experience + benefits and performance linked bonus.

Player Analytics Consultant
Role:
To assist Player Intelligence develop a greater understanding of our player’s behavioural activities, allowing us to maximise player lifetime value.

Take ownership of player intelligence projects, involving scoping, development and managing their delivery
Help the business to understand our players’ behaviours
Exploratory ad-hoc analyses
Documentation and presentation of findings
Required experience:
Preferably in industries dealing with a large number of retail customers (e.g. large Internet, credit card, retail banking, airline, retail businesses)
Strong customer analytics and database marketing experience
Excellent written and spoken English
Must be outgoing, confident and capable of working in a multi-cultural environment
Experience of playing poker would be an advantage but is not essential.

I always find that amusing. I can understand why they would say it, but personally I think it IS essential and explains a lot about the industry in general.

1) It's Party, experience playing poker is probably a disadvantage.

2) These are basically market research positions. Poker is much quicker to learn than the necessary skills.

3) The industry as a whole is short of people, especially skilled / talented ones.

would you please apply, you can even use me as a reference if you think it would help (not likely). I would truely appreciate somebody on the inside that could explain to me (in english) what the hell is really going on in that company.

I glance at party and other gambling industry jobs often too (www.poker.jobs.com). The only one I've ever printed out so far is the Player Insight Consultant job description! This was last Friday, but the BS move Party made on the weekend gave me second thoughts.

Anyone have any idea what the salaries are at Partygaming for this level? Or even in general?

I just love this from the responsibilities part: "Play on all key competitor sites on a daily basis in order to gather information on competitor activity"
