Skateboard Jumping Question

Gripping tape uh? Well that explains it. Thanks guys for the web site and the explanation. On the show I watched I just didn't notice the tape. Plus today's skateboards seem to be much more flexible, which allows for a great deal of bounce, compared with the solid-wood skateboard I had as a kid in the early 1970's.(no kidding, solid wood with stone-like wheels). Anyway, mystery solved.
