Default 1/2 stud/8 a marginal hand against a weak-tight player...

7 Card Stud High-Low ($1/$2), Ante $0.25, Bring-In $0.5 (hand converter)

kind of a strange hand, both in the way it came down, and the way i played the later streets- i wasn't paying as much attention as i normally do, as i was playing three tables of 1/2 6 max holdem as well (bonus time). Seat 4 is a solid player (as solid as they come at 1/2 anyway), seat 8 is weak-tight:

3rd Street

Seat 1: xx xx 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___brings-in___calls
Seat 2: xx xx K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 3: xx xx Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 4: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___calls___calls

Seat 6: xx xx 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 7: xx xx 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 8: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___completes

I almost always try to pick up a four flush with hands like this one at 1/2...

4th Street

Seat 4: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___checks___calls

Seat 8: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls

cool, i caught perfect... everyone else looks weak... bet!

5th Street

Seat 4: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___checks___folds
Hero: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___bets
Seat 8: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___checks___calls

O.K, now i have the best (looking) low... I bet again, thinking that if i can get seat 8 out, i have excellent potential for a scoop.

6th Street

Seat 8: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___checks

Well, now my diamonds are getting kind of dead. i have him on a busted low... maybe a pair of aces. i am pretty confidant that i can get a free card. normally i continue to bet here... i don't really know why i didn't.

Seat 8: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] xx___bets___folds

I was getting ready to check-fold, but there was something about the way he bet (really fast)... This is a play that i NEVER try, but this guy had been playing really weak-tight, and something in the back of my mind told me to raise him. it worked, but i think it was probably a bad play. thoughts?

Default Re: 1/2 stud/8 a marginal hand against a weak-tight player...

I would bet sixth street. Give the other guy a chance to fold. I might and might not try a bluff on the river. The check-raise bluff wouldn't have occurred to me, and I'm glad it worked out, but since he folded, I'm guessing your Fives were good anyway, so you also would have won if you had bet out or checked and called. I would probably check and call myself. You have set your opponent up for a bluff, after all.
