How much money do you want to spend on lessons? If losing $400 doesn't make you cringe then you'll be fine at 0.50/1.00 on party/skins. If your range is more like $40 then go to the micros on pokerstars or paradise.

edit: oh yeah... search the internet forum ("the zoo") on this site for a post by Homer... something like "Building a bankroll for newbies" Sorry I don't have the link handy.
