I like the 1/2 pot raise on the river. It's substantial but keeps most of your cash out of the pot.
Once you're in for the $8, plus pot of $15, plus his raise of $16 = $39 you get 5:1 odds on calling the $8 raise. You only have to be right 1 of 6 times to break even.
Unfortunately, I put him on A,Q.

really pale yellow, wouldn't call her white...but not one of those real dark yellow ones.

You're trying too hard to be tight aggressive and not using common sense.

I try to keep pots small when I just have top pair. I know it's not "by the book", but I would probably only raise $.50 or $1 on the flop. I don't want to play for 1/3 of my stack with what ended up being 2nd pair.
