Default How do you play bottom set on a monotone flop? Huge pot.

This hand turned out well for me but as part of my effort to not be results oriented... I want to learn how I could've played it better.

So here's the hand:

3/6 NL $600 (6-max)

Stack sizes:

UTG (1250)
MP- (600)
CO- Hero (555)
Button (610)
SB (610)
BB (174)

Hero has [3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]].

PREFLOP: UTG folds, MP raises to 12, Hero calls 12, Button folds, SB raises to 44. BB calls 38, MP calls 38. Hero calls 28.

POT: 180
FLOP: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB checks, BB checks, MP bets 180, Hero raises to $555 and is all in.

How bad of a play was this? How bad is calling that flop bet and raising on a turn blank? AKs escape cheaply if I raise now right? And analysing it now... he's only going to call with higher sets or made flushes.

Thanks for your answers.

I'm sorry but I didn't have any reads here. I figured they were normal solid players.

I wouldn't worry about the flush that much. w/o reads otherwise I would be scared as hell of a higher set.

How about calling then folding if SB goes over the top? But then again he could also have AK.

Come on, solid players? MP min raises preflop, SB seems to be itching to play a bloated multiway pot OOP, and BB calls 44 cold.

Without a read, just shove it in hope for the best. I don't think SB has a huge hand here, more likely he had mid pair or something. Mp having flush is biggest danger with his minraise preflop, and obvious interest in the flop. BUt he also just committed himself with a big ace, so just go with it.

I would probably play it the same. SB can't really check a set on this flop, MP would likely reraise AA or KK preflop. AK or AQ is fairly likely for MP, he might have a flush, but I think he can have enough other hands to justify a push. SB's most likely hand is QQ. I don't see how you can just call and let someone with the Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] draw cheaply. If you raise you have to push. So NH.

Default Results for those of you that care.

SB says he folded AK which boated. Turns out if he would've also called, I would've been in REALLLLLY bad shape. The way it played out I was only in bad shape.

SB checks
BB checks
SB: lol
MP bets $180
HERO raises to $510, and is all in
SB: oh man
SB has 15 seconds left to act
SB folds
BB folds
MP calls $330
HERO shows [3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]]
MP shows [2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]]
*** TURN *** [K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] [K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]]
*** RIVER *** [K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]] [Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]]
HERO shows a full house, Threes full of Kings
MP shows a flush, Ace high
HERO wins the pot ($1,197) with a full house, Threes full of Kings

SB: $%&$, folded AK
