his accomplishments thus far are incredible, but down the road people arent going to remember a first and a 22nd place finish. Its like harringtons back to back final tables that people were talking about last year, while its very impressive its not going be remember.

If raymer wins or gets a second that will be an all time greatt achievment.

The odds of Raymer winning 2 years in a row if he were equal to his competition are something like 13 million to 1.

Hard to beat Chan's 1,1,2.

Yeah, exactly. I don't care if they were smaller fields, it's about more than how many people you beat out. If I ran a 100,000 player tournament tomorrow, winning it would not be the greatest poker achievement ever.

This reminds me of watching the other World Series, the baseball one. Every time there's 2 good games in a row, the announcers start asking "could this be the greatest World Series ever????"

[/ QUOTE ]

so what did you put? I think final table. If he wins, he will be considered a god.

The correct answer is "If He Wins".

Maybe for a few years, younger newer poker players will recognize his achievement if he makes it to the final table. But it will always be disputed as to the greatest achievement ever in poker. There are so many contenders.

But if he wins it, he will always be remembered for winning the big one twice in a row, during the peak of the poker boom. He will be a legend like Brunson, Chan, and Unger, and he will have done it when poker was much more well-known to the world, and he will have done it against unbelievable odds.

I hope he does it! Or Ivey, that'd be cool too.

Chan also had at least one Legends of Poker wins in between there too. And that was the number #2 tournament at that time.

Back then it was called "The Diamond Jim Brady".

what i'm wondering is if Harrah's just color xerox his last year's Wall of Champions photo for the 2005 photo, to save, like $3.99.

The Wall of Champions is in Binion's. So, I'm guessing Harrah's won't even bother buying one.
