if it helps longmont is 30 miles from denver adn 10 miles from boulder so maybe some reviews of those places would help as well.

Hey man,

I don't have any experience with Longmont in particular but here's some stuff about Denver - I live in South Denver (Parker). There's quite a few Denverites posting here, so you should get some more responses I'd think.

Denver is pretty cool. It's close enough for you to be able to head downtown for stuff to do (sports, shows, dining, clubs etc.) and small enough where you won't get lost in the city or feel like you're about to get shot if you head down the wrong street.

Colorado as a whole has lots of awesome stuff to do. There's the obvious skiing and hiking type of thing, there are lots of good sports teams around. The weather is pretty nice for the most part; even during winter time it seldom stays cold and snowy for too long.

Boulder is a nice town, a little on the liberal, hippie side for my tastes. The downtown area has some OK college type bars and what not. Obviously there's the sports associated with CU.

You're also not too far from Fort Collins, home to CSU. I personally prefer Ft. Collins to Boulder, but both have some things worth checking out.

The notable downsides to Colorado are:

* Too crowded. The city of Denver as well as other bigger towns have been and are still growing like crazy, resulting in annoying traffic jams just about anywhere. Don't count on this changing anytime soon.

*Extremely dry. This is nice during the summer months when it's 95 degrees out but it ends up drying up your skin, chapping your lips and messing with your nasal passages (at least it does mine). Look into getting a humidifier for your bedroom if it bothers you.

*Bad poker - Colorado state law prohibits gambling for more than $5, so the casinos (up in the mountain, about 30-60 minutes from Longmont) don't have very good cash games. There are some decent tournaments though, search the B&M forum for details.

Well, that's about it for now. PM me with any specific questions.

Swede

Why are you "looking to relocate" somewhere you know nothing about?

Is your new employer covering any of your relo costs? When I relocated, my new employer set me with a relocation firm and a realtor which was helpful because we did not know anyone in the area.
