Default Vegas Comps Declining?

My friends and I go to Vegas annually during the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. In years past, we have been able to take advantage of execellent comps, i.e. free rooms, $400 bar tabs on house, etc. We are in the process of planning this year's trip and are running into diminished comps, even though our combined bankroll is larger than it used to be. With the exception of our big player ($10,000) the rest of us can't even get a free room (maybe casino rate).

Part of this may be a result of my group's transition from table games to poker tables, but it seems as though Vegas is simply giving away less than it used to. As such, we are not necessarily as loyal as we used to be and are shopping around using a casino host.

Anyway, I have a few questions:

Is this a trend others have experienced?

Do any Vegas casinos offer a poker rate (the ones I have called do not)?

Which casinos offer the best comp values?

Thanks.

I think ALL of the lack of comps can be attributed to you no longer playing regular casino table games. if you only play poker now, then expect only a room discount, maybe some ok food and/or line passes, and not much else.

you can check www.allvegaspoker.com to compare poker rates at all the other casinos.

Most of the LV hotels, particularly the bigger ones, are changing to a management philosophy of making each area of the hotel (casino, rooms, food, entertainment) profitable on its own.

And you are less likely to get comps for playing poker than for giving the house a shot at your bankroll in -EV table games. Comps policy in the new corporate world of LV is essentially rakeback. They will give you back comps amounting to some percentage of the amount they figure to take from you in poker rake, losses at the tables, slots action, etc.

For poker rates on rooms, see allvegaspoker

Any comps that you get for playing poker are going to be substantially lower than what you get for playing casino games. Don't expect anything more than a free buffet or a comp to the sandwich shop if you're playing poker. Free rooms or fine dining? Forget about it.
