Default Re: Better place to live: AC or Foxwoods?

There might be more tables in AC as compared to CT, but Foxwoods has more tables than any single casino in AC (I think, I've only been to the Borgata) which is some convenience... I mean, even if there are good games going at other casinos that can be a major PITA to pick up and try to casino hop. Now, I don't the area at all so I could be wrong.

Comps at the Borg are way better than Foxwoods though.

You are definitely wrong, it takes 10 minutes max to get from any one casino to any other casino in AC. Couple that with new poker room being built at the Showboat/House of Blues (~90 tables) and the Borgata expansion (~90 tables), and you've got hundreds of tables and at least 5 solid locations to choose from all within taxi/short driving distance.

This isn't the real concern for someone who is playing for a living.

Foxwoods does not have good LHE games bigger than 20/40 on a regular basis. The biggest big bet HE game that runs more than once a week or so is 5/5 NL. The room may have a ton of tables, but most of them are small stakes limit games, baby NL, and stud. Since I'm pretty sure that TStoneMDB doesn't play stud, Foxwoods only really has about 10 tables that are of interest to him.

AC has at least 4 times as many.

AC is in NJ, but it is not Bayonne. It is kind of sleazy and I wouldn't walk around town at night.

LOL, this is the first time I've ever heard Bayonne used as the example of a "nice" part of Jersey.

I can see this phrase catching on... "Aruba was nice, but it's no Bayonne".

Id have to go with AC too.....
Many nearby choices of where to live within 1/2 hour
Many rooms to choose from
Borgata is expanding, and will soon be the place to play in the East
FW comps suck, 2000 hours at Borgata or Taj will get you $4,000 over the year
2000 hours at Borgata will get you a "black card" and free entry into the players club to eat (in addition to points)
Borgata does not allow fat waitresses
FW Has crazy Noreasters, AC...not as bad
AC has a not too dirty beach
If FW pisses you off you have no alternatives, In AC you just go down the street
AC has the WhiteHouse Sub Shop..... Contest Over!

With you up till the last point. I hope that isn't a deal-breaker because I don't see the attraction. I waited 40 minutes ona a Sunday afternoon (no football or other major sports) to get a cheese steak that was maybe worth waiting 5 min. It was no better than I've had from the lunch trucks on Market St. in Philly. I ordered the cheese steak because I saw the meat they were putting on the subs. Nostalgia is nice, but the food wasn't worth crossing the street for.

my father wanted me to move to foxwoods, and was trying to convince me by saying that there is alot more to do in the area than at AC.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can see why your parents would rather you be at Foxwoods than AC. Foxwoods seems like a much safer environment. AC is sort of a cross between LV and Camden. It summons an image of gangsters, street thugs, whores, etc.

However, as discussed on this thread, from a poker standpoint and an area to live standpoint, most people would prefer AC.
