Default Noob question...define isolation

Just wondering what the correct definition of isolation is here

is it raising to fold everyone but the initial better to give us better odds at our outs...or is it done for information when we hit middle pairs

OR am im totally off on both [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Correct. I guess you could isolate more than 1 player to. If a weak player limp a LAG raises you might wanna raise to isolate them both. If the limper is loose and the LAG raises many hands preflop this could be made with hands like AJ. Guess I drifted from the subject...
