NL holdem (why have you forsaken me mason, why?)
I'm primarily a limit player with success in small to mid size games (b & m )for the past 4 years. I now find myself in a new city where the only game in town is a nl 1-2 and 2-4 game. It's not quite in the mid size range however i feel i can converse and understand at this level.
The card room just opened up and the players are very inexperienced. The problem is i'm having a tough time learning to play this game well, and mason hasn't written much on this subject. Am i suppose to learn this game on my own? It's dark and cold.... i'm scared... mason are you out there? please send help? Preferably in the form of a well written book with excerpts written by ray. |

Re: NL holdem (why have you forsaken me mason, why?)
i have both of harrington's books and ciaffone on pl &nl.
It's just that i feel they've left alot out. I read the short chapter in Miller's new book on nl and thought that was a very good starting point. I'm just a little frustraded that's all. |

Try the no limit forums. Particularly the small stakes one.

Re: NL holdem (why have you forsaken me mason, why?)
The Harrington books are for tournaments...not cash game. Why not make up your own strategy based entirely on table conditions. There is no one-size-fits-all strategy for NL that will give a max win-rate. That's not true for limit either, but it is exponentially based on table conditions for NL. Once a book is published, alternative strategies will become more profitable. BTW, Super System is good as long as you're not playing against total donks (which is a lot of the time in games that are less than high limit).
