Default Misplayed?

I decided to do my first MTT for fun tonight… I liked it... Might do it again sometime...

Anyways the blinds were getting really high, and were going to move up soon; there were 200 players left with 180 ITM (so it was near the bubble). How does this look? Was this a terrible play?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t600 (9 handed) converter

UTG (t23705)
UTG+1 (t14495)
MP1 (t3870)
MP2 (t5538)
MP3 (t8075)
CO (t2370)
Button (t28079)
Hero (t18196)
BB (t6860)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls t600, 4 folds, CO calls t600, Button calls t600, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t3100) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets t1800, BB folds, UTG folds, CO folds, Button calls t1800.

Turn: (t6700) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t15746 (All-In)

My thinking was he was a semi-loose player, and I might get a call and build a huge stack; if not I protected my hand from any spade or random straight draw and win a decent pot right there...

Was my play/thinking correct?

I do not like it. First you don't have to worry about a spade draw in 90%+ of the cases. Some straights just got there. You might get payed off by someguy who makes a moranic call with one pair, but in most cases you will only be called by a set or made straight. Maybe he was slowplaying 76, or a big K and will call you but more unlikely. You would have been better off betting something between 4,500 or 5,000 into the 6,700 pot. You want to induce a mistake by them drawing without proper pot odds, not to just get them to fold.
