Default 1st posted hand, bad play

Ok, I'm sure I played this bad, but how would you handle this situation?

Villian is 22/2.5 with a postflop aggresion of 1.1 after 300 hands also fold BB to steal 3/8

I had only been at the table for a few orbits however.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
8 folds, Hero raises, BB calls.

Thinking this would be a good oppurtunity to attempt a steal. Or that I could force a fold with a flop bet.

Flop: (4 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB calls.

Well that didn't work, would you have check/folded here?

Turn: (3 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero folds.

Well, maybe this was desperation.

Final Pot: 6 BB

Should I even have attempted a flop bet with such a coordinated board?

Well the pre-flop semi bluff was ok, but when it failed you should have check/folded the flop. As you essentially had bottom pair, and with your opponent raising, this definately means he is raising a made hand.

Preflop was not a semi-bluff, 5 is a favourite v. a random hand, he has a chance to take it down preflop, and can define his hand.

Firing at the flop is OK too as this opponent will fold a fiar few hands here.

Turn card is ugly and I think that is the time to give up.

preflop is good. I like the flop bet, although this is a wretched flop. turn is even more wretched, bet/fold is okay, but I'm okay with check/folding here too.

Yeah, after he called my flop bet, it seems it would be better to check/fold the turn.

I'd probably check/fold the turn, that boards loaded as hell.

Bet/folds not terrible though.
