He is the best around but there's still plenty of luck in these huge field tourneys. He went out of the Pot Limit [I think] when a pre-flop raiser with AA checked the AAx flop letting him catch an 8 on the turn to go with his 88. There's nothing you can do to avoid going out in that scenario.

[/ QUOTE ]

From his blog he says, "The flop came A-A-10 and I was pretty sure that my opponent had A-K, K-K, Q-Q, or maybe even AA or JJ. He checked and I checked. The turn was my gin card, an 8. Or not... the dude had four aces! Goodbye."

The million dollar question is: if he put his opponent on AK, KK, QQ, AA or JJ, why'd he call preflop?

Hi Yugo. I enjoyed seeing you again on your last trip to Vegas. Please look me up on your next trip.

P.S. Have you seen the pictures of Giga floating around? He's very well-groomed and doesn't look corn-fed at all.

No where does he say preflop I thought he had AA-JJ or AK. Unless that is the only range of hands that this person will play than it is impossible to know all this information by an opponent raising preflop. He felt that after his opponents reaction and the fact that he checked on an AAT flop that his opponent was either scared of the ace because he had a big pocket pair or had an A and was trying to slow play. So he took his free card and caught the best card in the deck and filled up. Now it is going to be impossible to get away from this hand. He is now a big favorite over the range of hands that he put his opponent on on the flop and is destined to go broke.

Negreanu was WSOP player of the year and Card Player player of the year last year. The latest issue of card player has him at 15th in POY standings. He's one of the best tournament players in the world and he's a cash game specialist!! He says he basically plays tournaments for the competition. There's a lot of variance in tournament play anyway. He'll bounce back, don't worry.

If my opponent has more than 8x as many chips as I have to call and it is less than 5% of my stack, I will call this every time, and you should too, with a few slight allowances.

Because if he flops a set there is a good chance he'll get all of his opponents chips. Duh.

Well he says that this is what he puts his opponent on BEFORE he discusses his opponent's action on the flop.

I agree with you. Maybe thats why we aren't DN?
Or.... maybe DN just wanted to have the best of both worlds. He would be the guy who knew his opponent's hand all along, but had no choice other than to suffer a tournament crushing loss.

And if an Ace comes he might be able to steal the pot from many of those hands.

Part of the problem is that you only get 1500 chips for a $1500 buy-in. Danny does better in tourneys with deep stacks.

And to the guy who said "No" after my comment that Danny was the best around, who do have thats better??? I'm talking about tournaments.

Personally I would take Hansen or Hellmuth in a NLHE tournament.
