Default New room...poker on the phone?

World Poker Live

Got an e-mail from them today. The software looks clunky to me, but the bit about playing on a mobile phone caught my eye. Thoughts? Opinions? Rants?

This part of the advertisement is a pretty good reason not to play there:

"No juiced cards. This tactic is used by some online poker rooms trying to increase the rake - we've played at poker rooms like this and quite frankly think it's bullshit."

Either they're liars or just dumb.

You gotta love a company that swears in its ads.

This is my favorite sentence: "Let the idiot playing the 7 2 offsuit "powerhand" stay right where they're at - playing at those sites is like buying your clothes at Kmart." What does that mean? For serious, what could that possibly mean anywhere?

Pokerroom offer poker via mobile as well I think. Never tried it - you can only play limit.

As for this site, it looks [censored]. They say:

"No craps, roulette, bingo or other non-cards games & free rolls . Leave that for the fish. We do cards - NOTHING BUT CARDS . Our Poker Room is specifically designed for REAL poker players. Let the idiot playing the 7 2 offsuit "powerhand" stay right where they're at - playing at those sites is like buying your clothes at Kmart."

Don't know about you, but I'd rather play fish than 'real' players.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I've noticed some sites really do end up having an abnormal amount of very high winning hands - pokerroom.com seemingly being the worst. I've done some research into this, thinking that I was just being a poor loser, and quite a few others feel the same way, at least about this site in particular. I'm not saying it's rigged to favor any one player, but maybe to make the game more exciting. It's definitely possible from a programming standpoint, and probably impossible to track since it doesn't favor anyone. As for the world poker guys, has anyone played there yet?

Who knows, maybe I'm AM just a bad loser.

The idea for World Poker Live was born after seeing "junk" poker sites such as Party Poker and Absolute Poker, literally ruining the game. Horrible graphics, free rolls, outrageous deposit bonuses...

[/ QUOTE ]

Damn those companies for offering freerolls and outrageous bonuses.

Sounds flakey. I won a big big pot in a NL tournie with "THE HAMMER" 27off.

Hey, will someone please take the "kick me" sign off my back? Phew....Tough crowd here. I guess they say, bad press is better than no press but I'm not quite sure. I feel like the new kid in school that just got stuffed in a locker.

Obviously, as you can see, we are trying to differentiate ourselves from the countless other "poker clones" out there - really, there's only a handful of different software out there, with different branding. Our software is 100% built from scratch, which definitely has it's good and bad sides - the bad being that for a little while, we'll be working out some bugs (which is why we're not accepting deposits yet) and good because we have the flexibility to quickly integrate the features and fixes you'd like to see.

No matter what we WILL listen to you - well maybe not all of you, the jackasses spewing racial remarks to our support staff will most likely be tuned out - but we sincerely want your feedback, and want to make World Poker Live a poke room that you would like to play at.

Maybe we took the wrong angle when explaining our values, however we do stand by them. We won't be offering free rolls and bonus deposits. However, we will be offering a lower rake than most of the other sites out there (4% vs the average of 5%) as well as promotions where the rake will be 1/2 and even zero. We'll also be dumping a bunch of cash into our Panamania (tm) tournament. If you haven't been to Panama yet, then this should really be of interest to you - the women are incredibly beautful, there's a load of great Casinos (Trump is rumored to have a stake in the soon to open Venetto Casino and Hotel in downtown Panama City) and not too far from the city are beautiful beaches and more.

In any event, we hope you give us a try, and after that give us a few more tries, as we'll definitely be seeing some growing/starting out pains, but we're committed to making it the best online and mobile phone poker room around.

Cheers!

Any guesses as to which regular poster(s) created the new aliases "joshjackson" and "WorldPokerLive" to anonymously troll this thread?
