General Question, what is your plan.
I raise 77 in MP and get 3 bet by the small blind. Flop is 553. What is my plan from here?

Raise the flop. If threebet call down. Bet if checked to.

Re: General Question, what is your plan.
I probably check/call it down if it's an aggressive player. Bet the river if checked to. If an ace comes on the turn I might think about folding. If it's 10/20 though I call it down all the way because people 3-bet me there with Q3o.
They always catch a queen on the river, of course, or, more likely, river a straight, but whaddya gonna do? |

I take ISF's in theory and practice. Sometimes I call flop and raise turn or just call down to mix.

Re: General Question, what is your plan.
Yes, against someone raising +20% preflop I would often raise turn. AGainst someone raising +15 I would often raise flop and then call it down. Against someone raising below 15% I would raise flop and fold if 3bet, unless his aggression factor was +3 on flop then I would think about calling it down but probably fold if I handt see him make som tricky moves earlier.

I take ISF's in theory and practice. Sometimes I call flop and raise turn or just call down to mix. [/ QUOTE ] If he had just coldcalled in the SB, I think your line is better, but he 3-bet. Meaning probably he either has a bigger pocket pair, or he has a couple big overs, and if it's something like AK he's likely betting them to the river. If you're behind, you don't want to put more bets in. If you're ahead, you don't want to discourage AK from betting to the river. And in general you want a showdown with the hand. For these reasons I think check-calling is right. If he was less likely to have you beat, plus was less likely to bet to the river, I think raising the flop or turn would be better. Make sense, kind of? |

Re: General Question, what is your plan.
If I raise and he 3 bets the flop I'm almost certain he has QQ KK AA.
I feel like I make this horrible call down with JJ and TT all the time and I just get AA and KK shoved in my face. |

Re: General Question, what is your plan.
As Kiddo pointed out it depends a lot on the opponent's 3-betting requirements. Since I raise nearly 20% of my hands preflop, I get reraised a lot, meaning that I am a big big favorite on a flop like this with 77. If you yourself raise tighter and a relatively tag 3-bets you, maybe things don't look so good anymore.
