Re: the 40 year old virgin
[ QUOTE ]
I have jusy watched this movie on DVD... It was good...but not as funny as Wedding Crashers... [/ QUOTE ] eh, i think it's a toss-up ... Wedding Crashers is all about Vince Vaughn. All his scenes were top notch. But the movie really grinds to a halt when the focus shifts to Owen Wilson's heartbreak. Even Will Ferrell could barely save the latter part of the movie. |

Even Will Ferrell could barely save the latter part of the movie. [/ QUOTE ] this is why i have to say 40 yr old was hands down my favorite of the two. i actually thought wedding crashers was 30 minutes too long and there were too many moments were i actually got kind of bored with the movie. someone said 40 year old just did the same old joke over and over again, well for me, i could care less if that same joke is funny. if you look at many of the great comedies they are very linear with their humor, hell we just had a thread about bad santa (one of my favorites) and it recieved a lot of praise and it was the same joke over and over as well. i still like hearing "are you [censored] with me kid?" |

Re: the 40 year old virgin
Just saw it yesterday, Carell was awesome.
When the movie hit, it was hilarious, but it dragged and there was a lot there that could have been cut. The DVD is an unrated/extended type thing, with "17 minutes not seen in theatres", I didn't see the shorter cut, but I would bet it was better. |
