heads up 10/20 nl i am dealt 5h9h in the BB. villain who has pretty much raised all of his buttons raises to 80. i have~ 5000 and he covers me by a few hunred. i call and the flop is 2dJh8h. i check he bets 150, i call. turn 7s, he bets 350, i call. river is 3h. he bets 1,000, i raise to 3,000, he reraises all in, i call.

why should i ever fold this pre given our really deep stacks? heads up i'd like to see the flop with almost anything and play on from there. i'd gladly call the raise and muck the flop a few times in exchange for the time i take a huge pot off him, just as i did in this case.

I would smooth call in that spot, raising commits you to the pot and if you're three bet you're beat unless your opponent is an absolute maniac.

Well you hit your draw, as for playing the hand pre-flop, why not. So the only question is callin 1500 for a 8000 pot, easy call.
