Well when something obvoiously out of the ordinary has happened, such as melted ice cream all over the floor I doubt they have to go out and hire an extra security officer to review the tape.

So what you're saying is, just be very neat when you steal since they won't look at the tape otherwise? Since you've worked in restaurants, how many had cameras installed?

Really, I’m not trying to be a dick, but this story is BS.

Well a few mornings ago, the maintenance guy was going through the kitchen for the restaurant (named "Lucille's" in her honor) and came upon the freezer doors wide open and melted ice cream all over the floor outside of the freezer.

Security reviewed the surveillance tape to see who made the mess and sure enough. There are two doors for the freezer. You can plainly see both handles slowly come down and the doors open. Then all of the ice cream containers come FLYING out. Nothing else came out, just the ice cream.

Probably she didn’t like that ice cream.

I agree that the story is likely bullshit. But it's possible that a business would have a camera on a freezer in the kitchen. I actually have worked at a restaraunt that had cameras in the kitchen. The Austin area Rudy's all have cameras. Call and ask them if you don't believe it.

[/ QUOTE ] Reread my last post. The part about the inventory procedure should answer your question. And as I've said before, employee theft is a major percentage of any business' shrinkage.

But yeah, the story is bullshit. The part about the ghost was the tip off. Not the part about a camera being aimed at the freezer.

My problem with the story is that the casino would surely use this tape to get a bunch of press exposure? So why's the fire not burning?

In every pricey restaurant Ive worked at there was surveillance of the big walk-in freezers.

When someone can walk out with 1000 dollars worth of truffles in their front pocket, its not a bad idea to surveil the fridge.

I don't think Lucille likes me either, because I was at The Gilpin yesterday, got to the 3pm tournament sign-up a couple minutes after it filled up, then proceded to have every runner-runner possible kick me in the nuts over the next hour.
