Default 99 overpair vs. a 3-bet

Party, 3/6 6max - 4 handed at the moment.

I'm new to these games in general and have only recently sat down at this particular seat so I don't have much of a read on anyone.

The only thing I've really gathered so far is that UTG does not play well and does a lot of open limping.

UTG limps and I raise on the button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. The SB 3-bets, BB folds, UTG folds, and I call.

Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets out and I raise - SB just calls.

Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks and calls my bet.

River: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Check, check.

A few questions:

Anyone capping this preflop?
Anyone not raise this flop?
I assume the turn bet is automatic (and ps., I'm probably folding to a turn CR - hope that's not a big mistake.)
Clear value bet on the river?

Any comments welcome, thanks...

Luke

Anyone capping this preflop? Not me.

Anyone not raise this flop? Raise looks good.

I assume the turn bet is automatic (and ps., I'm probably folding to a turn CR - hope that's not a big mistake.)

I would bet to avoid giving him 6 free outs.

Clear value bet on the river?

You should be betting here a lot. Overcards will call, plus other goofy hands. This is player dependent though.

i'm not capping without a read.
gotta raise the flop.
gotta bet the turn.

I'm counting 4bbs pf, 2 flop, your bet and his c/r are 3, so 9-1 and as many as 6 outs I'm calling the turn

river clear value bet.

why didn't you use the converter? the pot size is helpful.

I think this is standard. He's got overcards. You might even be able to make another value-bet on the river if he has something like A7, A5, or on a draw with AQ[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I guess there's a possibility that he has JT and is going for the c/r on the river. Without any reads, I might bet/fold this river.

jba,

I agree with you 100% that I need to call a turn raise here.

I was a little hasty asking that question for this particular hand. Right now I'm just trying to get a good handle on common situations in these games but my question would have only been appropriate if the board was 456J instead of 567J.

You guys folding to a turn checkraise here if I didn't have the gutshot draw (on a board like 456J)?

Luke

Definately bet the river. What are you afraid of here? Villain's not improving very often with that 10.
