Default 88 hand vs UTG PFR and cold-caller with fishies to my left

LPP1 raises UTG, which is actually more likely for him to do than when he's on the button.

Unknown guy calls, sorry.

I'm next to act in UTG+2. I have 88, the guy to my direct left cold-called me last orbit with KK when I raised, I shit you not. The guy to his left is kinda fishy too, as far as I can tell, but appears to be a little tighter (between 30-50). The rest of the players are probably tough.

Anyways, I call preflop... what do you guys think of this? I'm WAY too early to do this normally, but I've got two players on my left who are very likely to call and not very likely to raise, meaning that this is a prime opportunity to get a huge pot going, as even the tough players after me will be likely to enter with speculative hands.

Call?

With two players limping ahead of me, I consider a call if I'm at a passive table and don't expect a raise ahead, then fold if I don't make my set on the flop, with a UTG raise and call ahead of me...automatic fold.

I might do this in specfic situation with a table of cold-callers. I also might consider it with a cold-caller inbetween and the two players you described yet to act. In your situation, you don't sound confident enough to get the requisite cold-callers to draw for a set. If we're not drawing for a set, we need to 3-bet, and that sounds fairly reckless against this player.

No, I don't like this. Cold Calling when you already know there is a huge pot with 88 is much better than doing UTG+1 when UTG LPP raises. I just don't think it's worth while to play it OOP.

It's not that bad though, slight EV- IMO.

It's tough to tell, as I don't have PT up so I can't use a % to judge this by. However, I hope he has AA here.

Edit: Make that KK.

Why is it better if he has KK? (vice AA)

No response is going to be given on this. It's not tough, though. (Edit: It's more fun to figure it out on your own.)

Hint: preflop AND postflop there are benefits to this.

Well, if you hit your set and there is an A on board, it scares the K and slows him down when you give action... so I don't see how that's a good thing.

Maybe someone smarter than me would like to solve it?

PF really doesn't matter. This play is fine.
