Weird 5/10 hand; River decision
All stacks are ~1300. Full game.
MP open limps. CO, who has been playing very LAG preflop makes it 40 to go, and I call on the button with J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], blinds fold. Flop: T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked to the LAG who bets 80, I make it 180, limper coldcalls and the LAG calls. Turn: T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Checked around. River: T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] They both check to me again. Value bet or push? |

Re: Weird 5/10 hand; River decision
Pot is $660. Who calls $1000 on the river after they check it through except someone stupid enough to play QQ/KK/AJ/TT this way? I guess it's possible the limper cold called with TT but I'm guessing he's a donk with A10 since he never showed any strength.
I bet $400-$450 and get a call from top pair or even a Q picking off a "bluff." Hope to get raised by KT but it's unlikely. btw...I'd make the flop raise $240 next time. Good check on the turn. Nh. |

btw...if you lost to Lag's AJ, you don't have to puke. I'll do it for you.

I haven't played much online NL. Does the extra 80 really buy me that much more fold equity? I tried to raise the minimum amount that I thought was likely to get folds. What hands do you think call for 180 there but fold for 240? |

Re: Weird 5/10 hand; River decision
A10 was getting almost 4:1 to call. Given that he's lag, he'll call. Your bet looks like a probe with 10J, Q10.

Unless, of course, you are value-raising your J-high

Re: Weird 5/10 hand; River decision
If they have seen you push on a bluff in the past, push.
If they think that you need a monster, value bet 2/3 to full pot. I am having some real problems putting either one on a hand.... to make that cold call on the flop, I think that limper has to have a set.... but I don't know how he can check turn and river with it. LAG could have a couple different hands, considering the great odds he was getting on the flop, but I don't know what he can call with since he, too checked both turn and river. Overall.... I think your image determines your play more than anything else.... but given the likelyhood of a set from MP... I lean towards a push. |

I fold to flop bet. As you played it, value bet river.

After they checked, I hesitated ~5 seconds and pushed. Both folded. I figured that given my flop raise and turn check a middling/weakish hand might put me on a bluff and make a big call of my push but be more reluctant to call an "obvious" value bet of 350-450. I'm still confused about my flop raise getting called in 2 places and then getting checked to twice. I guess the preflop limper must've had a gutshot and figured he could stack me on the turn if he hit.
