Re: Thoughts on stack sizes vs player skill, etc...
Interesting thread.
Two points that I haven't seen made: 1) Sometimes a couple of really big stacks are an indication of several fish that keep rebuying. 2) Whether there's a 2x or a 5x stack at the table doesn't seem as important as the level of looseness and the total number of "fishy chips" at the table. My thinking is that 100 pounds of fish is 100 pounds of fish--whether it's spread across 1 or 10 players. |

For SSNL especially, this is actually wrong. but not so much so that it warrants a big discussion. fim [/ QUOTE ] Whats up man, I'm not sure exactly what part of my post you're saying is wrong but I'm interested. Do you mind clarifying? Thanks |

BUMP.
With PP's blind structure change, I thought this was worth a bump. Matt Flynn makes a guest appearance and is definitely worth a look. |

Re: Thoughts on stack sizes vs player skill, etc...
why on earth would it matter how large the big stack is? It doesn't give him any edge over you; it's basically the same thing as if he had the same size stack as you.

the combination of short-stack equity and ease of decision making make 60bb my favorite buyin for multitabling 100bb no limit games. time and again people who know who i am online ask me why i buy in below the max. the answer is i play 4-8 tables and it's easy. i am not really comfortable in a game, however, until i have around 200bb. that's where the room to move, apply pressure and bluff (against similarly-sized stacks) frees up the game. [/ QUOTE ] These two statements seem to contradict each other. Can you elaborate? Is it that you'd rather have a 60BB stack or a 200BB stack but not in between? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure that's exactly what he means. So he starts with 60BB. Assuming he doubles up fairly quickly, he has 120BB (already over the max buy of 100BB) and well on his way to the comfort zone of deep stacks (200BB). |

[/ QUOTE ] Without wishing to put words in Matt's mouth. When he plays online he plays 4-8 tables. Playing with a 60BB stack means (as was previously true on Party) that your decision processes are quite simple and the hand is over or the money all-in on the flop (or you are pot commited) in most hands you are playing. You don't need to develop reads etc In a normal game such as 5/10 live then he prefers it when both he and his opponent(s) have $2000 in front of them. |
