Default It\'s good to be home Andy, pt 2 ! Doc AZ

Dear Andy,

It is great to hear from you again.

Of all the super posters, that we have had over the years, I have respected your opinions the most.

What have I been doing? You ask. Well: I am presently a moderator for the “Arizona poker research Society”.

It is a drinking club that pretends to have an alterative motive.

One of our members is, “Doc C“.

Doc C has previously been ranked as one of the 10 best gin players in the world. And after publishing a textbook on gin, he spent a decade creating a truly amazing memory book for Physicians around the world on diagnosis and treatment.

When it comes to Poker C's true love is Stud.

Between you and me in holdem, “C” still plays his blinds too tightly. And tries to bluff against 4 players way too often.

As an incurable teacher, twice a week I produce a lecture on Poker, for the Arizona Poker Society.

(As you might imagine occasionally one is worthwhile)

I have been considering posting a copy of my bi-weekly presentationds here at the forum. (about one in 3 might be relevent.

Since you are one of our moderators, that would of course be if you approved.

This weeks essay is on, "The peradine shift in starting hand calling requirements, when playing against players who typically start with PS starting cards (pure s..hit) and call fourth street with "DNPS" (damn near pure s..hit)

OK, so maybe it is boreing! But I still think that it is relavent.

"OK old friend" so how does all this impact on our STUD forum, you are asking!

Well since another of my old friends "Doc C", has such a large private medical practice, he can not afford to spend as much time as I do developing lectures for the poker society. So he owes me!

SO!, as a way to pay me back, I am going to ask him to join the 2+2 Stud poker forum.

Incidentally Andy, if I had to bet a thousand dollars, on either you or C, in a heads up Stud tournament, I’d put my money on you!

But if it were a Gin tournament, as C’s old nemesis Stu Unger would say. To hell with your TRIPLE COMO‘S “C“!

The reason that I am telling you and the forum members ahead of time, is so that if Doc C does joins us, let’s be kind to him, and not drive him off the first couple of weeks.

Once he is in, I’ll bet he gets pot stuck.

My goal is to bring us, and the other gifted members of the Stud forum, together. That should arouse some great debates.

As you know I love history:

At the battle of Fredericksburg, ten thousand Union and Confederate troops, played stud together, on the night before 30,0000 of them marched to their deaths. (See the works of the historian, Shelby Foot)

When the people’s of California, outlawed gambling they said “ Because of the addictive nature of the game “Stud Horse Poker” (Stud’s original name) it shall not be legal for it to be played within our state’s borders.

And as a member of the 82nd air-born regiment pointed out to General Eisenhower, on the night before D-day, (when Ike’s stud hand accidentally was exposed, as he tried to muck it.

“Why General, did you conceed? When you had -- Aces Full!

Eisenhower ( a true lover of the poker game STUD said) to the young lieutenant “ It is hard to take money from someone in a poker hand, who may die, doing his best to follow your orders in the morning.

At the casino today, since I thought that the player on my right was all in, I raised with a small made flush on the river. But the “all in" player on my right said Re-raise!!

I asked the dealer what my pot status was, and he told me that the player on my right, with no chips in front of him, had given the chip girl a c-note for more chips.

So he actually was not all in. After showing down the nut flush, the winner of the pot,on my right. Took my last 8 chip call and put them in my stack!

Since you didn’t know my pot status Doc Az, I am going to give this bet back to you.

"What a class move", I said.

I may forget that class move, my new friend Chris, made today, (when he gave me back my last bet) but if I do, it won't be for another 10 years.

That‘s the game of stud,! And the class men and women who are naturaly drawn to it.

You are right Andy.. Stud is stud.

It is good to be home!

Your old friend,

Doc AZ

Oddly enough, I rather enjoy the things most consider boring...bring it on.
