Default I was trapped

What do u do in these type of situations? I figured, my hand is better than the random hand BB will pick up. If I wait I will have 2x BB after my BB. If I lose this, I can call anything in my BB because I will have 2x BB left. I figured I had no true alternative, anyone else hope to get lucky? I had no chance to do anything before hand, (the blinds just went up) so please don’t tell me I shouldn’t let myself get into this situation.

Hold'em No Limit - Level VIII (200/400) - 2005/02/16 - 23:01:46 (ET) Table '5405388 1' Seat #5 is the button Seat 1: Junaid0 (1555 in chips) Seat 4: Pokeryugo (5270 in chips) Seat 5: Stewnod (1790 in chips) Seat 8: Playa C 11 (4295 in chips) Seat 9: LadyPlaymake (590 in chips)

*** SHOW DOWN ***
LadyPlaymake: shows [8c As] (a pair of Threes)
Junaid0: shows [Qs 4h] (a pair of Threes - lower kicker) LadyPlaymake collected 1455 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 1455 | Rake 0
Board [6c Kh 5s 3d 3s]
Seat 1: Junaid0 showed [Qs 4h] and lost with a pair of Threes Seat 4: Pokeryugo folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: Stewnod (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 8: Playa C 11 (small blind) folded before Flop Seat 9: LadyPlaymake (big blind) showed [8c As] and won (1455) with a pair of Threes

Is my logic flawed? Is there something with the way I’m thinking about this hand? I obviously need to get lucky to get ITM. Also, part of my reasoning for doing this is because the big stack is after me, so I cannot steal from him, and this puts me in a really tight spot.

You know that the BB has to call your bet with any 2 cards. With only 165 chips left and the 200 SB the very next hand, the BB is likely going out on this hand or the next. Q4o is slightly worse than 50/50 against a random hand (pokerstove says 49.13/50.87), and there are three players between you and the big blind who might call (indicating they have much better than a random hand). If you were the small blind, this might be a close decision, but here it should be an easy fold.

You can fold both blinds if you get even worse cards and still have a good chance at finishing top three, since you are way ahead of the BB and only slightly behind Seat 5.

I would fold this and hope someone with better cards takes out the BB. If not you have a 50/50 chance of getting a better hand to take them out on the next hand. Even if you have to fold that hand as well you still have 900 or so and have another orbit to look for a better spot to double up or steal. Pushing your button hand against seat 5 might be a good strategic move with decent cards.

Default Re: I was trapped

yeah, i've been thinking about this, and i realized, that there are people who fold for 2x BB at the $16 tourneys...
so i coulda gotten lucky at in my blinds, or i could wait 4 hands for something decent to push... Or the best idea woulda been push seat 5's BB

edit: o and how did u make the hand history like that? i tried bison's hand converter and it wouldn't work
