Re: Fun for the whole family. KK.
Hi Westley,
Checking behind with a straight isn't "weak tight", it's super sound. Anyone paying any attention has to fear this river card. In fact, it's so scary that he can even consider folding to your bet, and certainly should fold when you check-raise. Maybe he'll bet if you check, but you've got to be pretty confident since a) he can't put you on a single hand he beats, and b) there's no guarantee he's going to call the raise, and c) it's very likely he will cry and call if you bet. I think checking is a significant mistake, close to a full big bet, but perhaps I am giving my opponents too much credit. -Eric |

I personally prefer leading the flop, it is the best way to get as much money in hte pot before a potentail scare card falls.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Every street is perfect. The one close one is the flop, but I like her play. -James [/ QUOTE ] i prefer a bet on the flop. Barron [/ QUOTE ] Is this just a preference or do you think it is the higher EV play? why? [/ QUOTE ] higher EV. many turn cards can come that will reduce your hands value or kill your action. this is a flop that is likely to hit many people and catch people with both weak and strong draws. the flop is also a speculative street to many people where tehy'll put in many bets on a draw but wont do that on a turn. i like a bet rather than a c'r because the c'r is more likely to clear the field where they wont have to pay if the have a weak draw, however they'll call 1 bet when you bet and maybe even raise good heart draws which will allow you to collect 3 bets or more on the flop whereas a c'r wont allow you do to that. Re: Fun for the whole family. KK.
I really like your analysis. However, I think I river checkraise might induce a call from a player
expecting a chop. Might he not think that you are trying to push him off the pot ? Your play is not entirely discordant with an AQ holding. However, I do agree that an astute player will just check behind. Playing online though I have been surprised by the number of times that I have missed bets by not rereaising when I thought the only raising hands would chop with me. |
