Re: Math Proves Probability of Christ\'s Resurrection = 99.9%
The Great Swinburne-Sklansky Debate. Each man pulls probabilities about god out of his ass and throws them at the other until one is too buried to breathe.

The Great Swinburne-Sklansky Debate. Each man pulls probabilities about god out of his ass and throws them at the other until one is too buried to breathe. PairTheBoard [/ QUOTE ] Thats about right. Swinburne's argument uses bayes theorem and some arbitary looking probabilities to show the resurrection is very likely to be true. Sound familiar Its depressing that posters who pride themselves on their rationality are so sure that Swinburne's failings are mathematical when a few minutes googleplexing would show them that 'The Age and Catholic News' representation of his argument is highly misleading - probably because they, rather than Swinburne, didn't understand the maths. chez |

1. The probably of God's existence is one in two. That is, God either exists or doesn't. 2. The probability that God became incarnate, that is embodied in human form, is also one in two. [/ QUOTE ] This is awesome. |
