Someone I know has a really, well, ridiculous last name (in English anyway). For a variety of reasons not all of which do I understand, he is definitely changing it and he came to me for advice. His first name is Matthew. He works for the government right now, with the occasional job on a political campaign.
What is the most +EV last name for him to have at the top of a resume? I'm thinking Armstrong (associated with Neil, Louis, Lance) or Roosevelt (politics, two extremely popular Presidents... voila). Keep in mind he's not going to be able to fake actually being from an important family. |

He could adopt a patronymic name. Take his father's first name and add "son" to the end of it for his new last name. This way there is still some family connection (e.g. Stephenson, Johnson, etc.).

First off, what's the name?
Secondly, go for something ridiculously American like: Appleseed, Smith, Eagle, Star, Bush, etc. |

I had a friend in school who changed his last name because it reminded him of his dad who he hated. We were *this* close to persuading him to change it to Champion, but in the end he went with Morgan.

*edit* You should tell us what his last name is so we can have a good laugh, btw.
