[/ QUOTE ] They're WMV so it's not an audio codec problem. I have no idea (unless this is something blatantly obvious like not using the right player or not having your speakers plugged in :P)

yeah, everything else works, it just seems that windows media player won't have sound when movies play. and of course .wmv won't open in quicktime.
