Hand #1: I call preflop as well. If I think I can get SB to lay down something like AK or AQ, I raise the flop to clean up against a bunch of overcards and hope to bluff my way to the river unimproved if I don't catch. If you're not confident in that line, just calling the flop is fine -- in which case I raise the turn as well, as I'm probably best and in that case DEFINITELY don't want overcards hanging around.
The river in Hand #1 . . . I don't know that betting gets better hands to fold. I'm tempted to check/call here, hope that a bet comes from a missed draw (which is obviously what MP had). Hand #2: Perfect. |
