Default WPT excitment waning

Anybody else not give a crap this week that it's Wednesday and there is a new WPT show on?

After following the chip counts every day during the big one and watching the stars cast of every hand at the final table actually caring about the outcome, the WPT just doesn't have my juices flowing this week.

Agree. There was a time that I thought the WPT was becoming more popular and prestigious than the WSOP. And that feeling increased when Binions went belly up and closed the doors for a while.

But I couldn't have been more wrong. There is absolutely nothing in the Poker World and maybe beyond that compares to the WSOP now.

Well the simple reasoning is the money. How can you get excited watching two players battle for $500k when you just witnessed a man win $5 million? It's like downgrading your Porsche to a Camero (sorry to all you Camero drivers!)

this WSOP seemed more incredible because we all seemed to have a "hero" to root for and get behind...when you have some emotion involved in the outcome obviously it is more exhilirating...Im still taping the WPT though...

i think it seems more exciting and "prestigious" is because its a once a year thing, with the biggest field ever and you were following it hand by hand for almost a week, not just the final 6 as you do with wpt. also there was no fancy editing and hole card cams that only show juicy hands where the "boring" hands were cut. There was more the feeling of really being in a tourney, even though you were not.

i hear you though, but still gotta get that wpt fix and its still more exciting and prestigious than late night poker imho

Knowing who wins doesn't help.

Tons of re-runs don't help.

Compared to the WSOP, seing only 6 players doesn't help. I'd rather see a few hands from the whole tournament in the first hour, and then the 2nd hour at the final table.

But the #1 worst thing about WPT that kills any desire I have to make an effort to watch it...

I'd be more excited if it wasn't another goddamned celebrity edition.

Tim
Its just called the celebrity invitational. Antonion Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Humberto Brenes, and best of all John Juanda are all at the final table. It isn't the hollywood home game crap if that is what you are talking about, with Al Boreland.
