Re: Commerce 10/20 - Unexciting Fold
Supose you make it $500 on the flop, I'm guessing your folding to a re raise by either one, right? So I like folding, or calling a lot more.

Re: Commerce 10/20 - Unexciting Fold
Given the range of possible holdings between both players, I'd guess that you're at best a small favorite, and at worst a big underdog, and so folding is a pretty reasonable decision. Assuming you have the small blind beat, then even if the first position player has a hand like A-K of spades, you're only a marginal favorite. But, I think you should be more wary of the small blind than anything else. Do you think he is likely to lead out into this player without a hand which can beat a high pair? Most players give some respect to first position raises, so I would suspect he is either semi-bluffing or flopped a big hand and doesn't want to give a free card while hoping he gets raised by the player in first position. Do you think he's capable of semi-bluffing a flop like this when he's likely to get raised? I think it fundamentally depends on how aggressive the player in the small blind is.
I think you would have to put each player on a fairly limited range of hands in order to justify this call (e.g., small blind on a small overpair, and assuming he's decent, I'd doubt he'd lead out without having hit a set, or semi-bluff and first position player on two high spades, probably A-K). |

Re: Commerce 10/20 - Unexciting Fold
reraising preflop makes this hand so much easier to play.

Re: Commerce 10/20 - Unexciting Fold
So am I to assume you are generally just calling there - or you would normally be raising. I know it depends, but what is more likely for you?

Re: Commerce 10/20 - Unexciting Fold
i am not folding this without some sick read giving me a reason to.
i am not often calling this as it is very possible im going to be put in a very rough spot on the turn against two players, even with position. i make it 400 straight to go on the turn, making the hand much easier for me to play, and prevents me from folding a hand that has a good chance of being much the best. what would have been interesting would have been both sb's TT and utg's 99 reaction to your flop raise. |

I don't know if you'd consider this result interesting, but they both would have folded.
