Default PLO8, no low possible, got decent high

Any comments are appreciated. How much do you bet on the river?

I have $22, Villain has $38. I haven't played much with Villain, but he seems to prefer making small bets to giving free cards.

TruePoker $25 PLO8, $1 blinds, 7 handed

Hero (SB) posts 1 and dealt 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
BB 1, UTG calls 1, UTG+1 folds
Villain (MP) raises 2, CO calls 2, Button calls 2, Hero calls 1, BB calls 1, UTG calls 1

Flop 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (Pot $12)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG checks
Villain bets 3, CO folds, Button folds,
Hero calls, BB folds, UTG folds

Turn Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (Pot $18)
Hero checks, Villain bets 2, Hero calls

River K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (Pot $22)
Hero has $15 left and bets $???

Fold preflop, that's the type of hand that gets you in a lot of trouble and rarely flops the nuts (or stays the nuts very long).

I don't know why you are check-calling this flop. You want crappy lows out of there in case you have a shot to scoop (which you would). Pot it.

Turn is not terrible for you, though it does put a two-flush up. Still pot.

River is just a mess, I can't see you getting away from this hand the way you played it.

I know this is a lousy starting hand, but I was getting 9 to 1 on the preflop call. Not enough?

Agree I was too passive on flop and turn.

Considering the way I played, do I just bet out all $15 on the river?

And the flop hits and you have odds to call, and the turn hits and you have odds to call, and the river hits and you have odds to call. Then you lose to kings full and you think "if only I hadn't put that one chip in preflop with this [censored] junk".

Fair enough...

So river is check/call or check/fold?

I confess when I saw that river card my first thought was "that weak turn bet was him betting the low draw and a weak high, and he didn't get the low, he doesn't have a K, he's got A2xx, should I bet $5, $10, or $15? What's the most he'll call?"

I bet $15, which, given my read, was kinda stupid...

The river is check/call, try to induce a bluff.

Exactly. There are many hands that you beat that will try to buy it on the end, but very few hands (if any) that you beat that will call if you lead at the pot.

That makes good sense. I have much to learn about this game.

FWIW, Villain typed "arg" twice in the chat box (which at truepoker makes amusing sound effects) and folded to my $15 river bet.
