$20 $40 JJ in small blind
Pretty decent $20/$40 game at the Borgata.
Preflop: Tightish passiveish guy limps UTG. Fish raises UTG + 1. 3 calls. I flat call in SB with JJ. BB calls UTG calls. Flop: 8 5 2 rainbow. I lead. BB calls, UTG calls, UTG + 1 calls, a cold caller who is a super aggressive young kid raises. Folded to me and I 3 bet. BB folds, UTG calls 2 cold, UTG + 1 now caps it. The young kid folds, I call, UTG calls. Turn: 6 I lead, UTG calls, UTG + 1 instaraises, I muck. Comments? |

Re: $20 $40 JJ in small blind
isn't this a flop you'd want to check raise? Face the field with two bets...
everyone's got odds to call the flop... and your hand is vulnerable to about every card in the deck... |

3-bet preflop [/ QUOTE ] Not Even Close. I auto-3-bet preflop with JJ-AA in the SB at the Commerce 20/40. TT is the cusp. I usually 3-bet TT but there are times when I'll merely call two bets. I never 3-bet with 99 from the SB for equity, but I'll occasionally do it to isolate. FWIW, I fold JJ preflop to a 3-bet (and I cap with QQ). Unless I'm in the BB, and then I call with JJ and hate life. |

Re: $20 $40 JJ in small blind
you should probably have less rigid guidlines for preflop play. A lot depends on who is doing the raising and who is doing the 3 betting, and from where.

I agree. I've definetly capped 99 and worse and I've probably folded JJ from the sb to 3bets before.

But I'm not terribly concerned about my preflop game. (Yes, I'm the same guy who posted questions about preflop hands in the SB at the 20/40.) That said, I situationally cap, fold, and smooth-call with JJ. And I do other things with TT and 99. But those situations come up so rarely (at least with JJ), that my rigid guidelines have no noticeable effect on my long-term results with Jacks. |

Preflop: I flat call in SB with JJ. [/ QUOTE ] Not to quote ML4L or anything but...... Booooooooooooooo! Three bet that puppy Preflop. And to qualify the Borgata 20-40 that has an UTG limper, and UTG+1 raiser, 3 cold callers and someone who smoothcalls with JJ in the SB as "pretty decent" is a bloody crime. I've never seen a bad Borgata 20 game. This one ranks right up there with the juicy ones. If you three bet that PF it makes the hand so much easier to play. Cause no way youre folding an overpair on the turn in a huge bloated pot. |
