Hey David,

I like your Vancouver idea. I lived there till about 3 years ago (moved to T.O.) and there is lots to do in the region. A couple of days on the west coast will allow you to enjoy Vancouver city (with lots of service related industries + great weather - should make for a good time) as well as a trip to Whistler which is just as nice in the summer as it is in the winter (biking, hiking and general sightseeing abounds).

In fact, camping in the area is really easy to do - so if you are into that kind of stuff, you shoud be able to squeeze some in.

All in all, Vancouver has both excellent city life and breath taking nature within a short drive of each other, allowing for maximum possibilities.

Good suggestions so far.

Deep sea fishing, whale watching, roller coasters are all great ideas. Grand Tetons or Yellowstone Park would be fun, also.

The one thing I remember from being 14 is that I initially didn't want to do anything with my dad until we were actually doing it and then it wasl be fun, but I wouldn;t let on that I was having fun until its almost over. I also remember during bonding trips with my dad thinking how cool he was when my mom wasn't around.
