Default 20 40 at NYC club.....

Pretty good, not great 20 40 game...

Preflop: UTG is up a lot for the day and normally plays pretty well but overplays his hands sometimes limps. I limp UTG +1 with 77. UTG+3 I haven't played with too much but he seems to play ok also limps. MP1 is a pretty good player limps also. Small blind completes big blind checks.

Flop: Q 10 7 all diamonds. Checked to UTG who bets out. I raise, UTG + 3 cold calls, MP1 three bets, UTG thinks and calls two cold, I cap, everyone calls.

Turn: 5 clubs. UTG checks to me and I bet. UTG + 3 now raises. MP1 thinks for a while and mucks. UTG calls two cold after much deliberation and I call.

River: 6 clubs. Checked to UTG + 3 who bets. UTG calls and I muck.

i dont like ur preflop limp.i either fold or raise(mixing it up)1st in w small poket pair in the long run will cost u alot of chips.muck the hand.u have nothing invested in this hand and ur expectation 4 a profit is low.remember tight is right unless u r playing against a tight passive field, then u might want 2 raise pre flop but never just call.ur hand plays well against maybe 2 or 3 players or 6 or more players
if u dobt me on this then u need 2 buy sklansky's"holdem 4 the advanced player"
good luck

the shark's holdem 4 the advanced player

I believed when i limped behind the utg limper that there would be plenty of callers. The preflop action should show that I was right about that.

I think there must be a typo. Your post says that you folded the river.

This is absolutely terrible. Preflop's good, flop's good. Raise the turn, raise the river, for god's sake don't fold the river with a set getting > 12:1 closing the action.

I don't get it either. Did you think the river bet meant he had precisely an 8 9?

[/ QUOTE ]

Either that or precisely a flush.

"the flop was all diamonds"

Oooh I missed that. Turn is fine, just call the river. Folding is still bad I think, but it's not as absolutely terrible as I originally stated.

UTG+3 most likely flopped a flush, but you have to pay him off. You probably have UTG beat, given your description of him so the overcall doesn't mean much in this case. I think folding is horrible unless you have some kind of super Tommy-style read that you didn't explain in your post.
