Default Another PLO8 hand

Did I really screw this up? I knew that the guy had a high pair when he raised preflop. Just didn't see the flush coming. Should I have just folded the river?

I'm fairly new to PLO8, so take my comment with a grain of salt...

You take a stab on the flop even though you didn't make anything - I like that.
On the turn, you still don't have a hand and you're out of position, yet you bet big. Why? Do you think he'll call you with a Q? I think this bet will only be called by hands that beat you. It also increases the pot size considerably making the situation hard to control. I would've shut down on the turn and gone into check/fold mode.

Like I said, this may be poor advice, but it's the line I'd take.

OK, a few things...

1) You may have thought you "knew" he had a pair because of the PF raise, but trust me, if you're expecting an opponent to turn up JJxx after a max raise preflop, PLO8 is going to be hard on you. A raise like that usually signifies a good A2.

2) With an ABSOLUTE MONSTER like AA2x, you should repot preflop. This will make the play much easier postflop, and should limit the field to a headsup matchup, likely with another A2. You have a pretty big edge in those matchups, so start getting money in early.

3) The way this hand went down, you just got sucked out on by an idiot. Now, had you played the hand correctly, he may have folded, but considering the calls he made, you might have just lost more $ because he sucked out the flush. Still, it's nothing to worry about. Chalk it up to inexperience on your part, and blatant stupidity on the part of your opponent.

BTW, I'm Wintermute's alter-ego. Wintermute got banned recently for an OOT post.
